ROAD TRIPS

click to go to product catalogue Taking a road trip this holiday weekend? We probably wouldn't dream of taking our children for a ride in the car without them being firmly strapped in place! Buckle up you, your family and your dog. Even a mild fender-bender at only 25 miles an hour can hurl your pet into the front seat, risking injury to both of you. A doggie seat belt will keep your pooch out of your lap and in the back seat so you can both relax and enjoy the ride.

Available in various sizes so visit us with your pet for a fitting at our east end shop or click to order on line!

heat warningSummer Time Car Rides with your Dog

You might think you are being kind by taking your dog for a ride in the car on a hot summer day, but you could be risking his life!!! On a hot summer day the inside of a car heats very quickly. On an 85 degree day, for example, the temperature inside your car, with the windows slightly opened, will reach 102 degrees in 10 minutes. In 30 minutes it will go up to 120 degrees. On warmer days it will go even higher.

A dog's normal body temperature is 101.5 to 102.2 degrees Fahrenheit. A dog can withstand a body temperature of 107-108 degrees for only a very short time before suffering irreparable brain damage or even death. The closed car interferes with the dog's natural cooling process, that is, evaporation through panting. So be kind and leave your pet home with a favourite treat or toy.
